Condition Monitoring for Stormwater Management
The City of Cambridge (Massachusetts) performed an assessment evaluating their vulnerability to climate change, which linked an increased risk of flooding to more frequent and intense rainfall events. As part of this evaluation, the Owner’s team delivered a stormwater management solution to reduce the associated risks. sensemetrics is proud to support GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. with their monitoring efforts related to the construction of a cast-in place concrete storage holding tank and associated underground pumping station, designed to mitigate the impacts of future flooding events. Instrumentation included a wide range of geotechnical sensors from RST Instruments Ltd. and GEOKON, installed to monitor the performance of the SOE and adjacent impacts on rail infrastructure. The system provided Skanska with a cost-effective solution to comprehensively measure and visualize structural and ground movement to minimize risk associated with construction activities on a real time basis.
